Pre-Move Preparations
Once you’ve confirmed your booking and paid the deposit, most movers will send carton boxes, tape, and protective wrapping in advance. This allows you to start packing early and sort through what you want to bring along.
Here’s the honest truth: moving costs usually cover transport and manpower only. Extras like disposal, storage, or special handling are charged separately.
On moving day, many homeowners suddenly realise they don’t want to take along items like:
- Withering plants
- Old racks and cabinets
- Broken or bulky furniture
By then, you’re already tired from packing and may not have the energy to dispose of them yourself. Movers can help, but expect an add-on disposal fee, since they must transport items to NEA-approved disposal sites. Improper disposal could result in fines, so it’s better handled professionally.
Tip: Always clarify upfront what’s included in your moving package versus what’s billed separately.
